I think thief and warrior type classes tend to draw a lot of new players that don't want to do anything too complicated. In PVE, Ranger. In PVP, Guardian. Guardian could literally press every button on it's keyboard in a group fight without a single thought, and it would more than likely be a great asset to it's team.

Your race also doesn't affect your starting stats, either: a female Sylvari warrior will have the same initial stats as a male Charr warrior, for instance. Your race also does not affect your character's proficiency with any crafting skills.

The combat in GW2 is what sets it above all other MMORPGs for me. No other MMORPG lets you dodge, jump and move while using skills (well, the next closest would be Bless Unleashed which was more fun than the average generic MMORPG like WoW and FFXIV but still not as fluid as GW2).

Guild Wars 2, like Guild Wars, uses a skill-based combat system, whereby players must select only 10 skills from a much larger pool, introducing an element of strategy.
